BYA Outstanding Citizen Awards
Bloomfield Youth Assistance celebrated their 2025 outstanding citizen awards with a reception and ceremony honoring extraordinary students and community members. Keynote speaker, BHS Superintendent Rick West, delivered remarks about the partnership between BHS and BYA, stating, “We recognize those who give their time, energy, and passion to making a difference and I can’t think of a better way to come together as a community. [BYA’s] efforts reinforce the same ideals we promote in our schools - fostering resilience, encouraging service, and ensuring every young person has the opportunity to grow and thrive.”
Award recipients were nominated by teachers, counselors, and friends, in one of the following categories: (1) initiation of a new program or project to help others, (2) personal acts of leadership and/or heroism, (3) self-improvement through personal and/or academic achievement, (4) remarkable perseverance through hardship or tragedy, or (5) volunteer service to an individual, organization, or to the community. During the award ceremony, nominators and BYA representatives paid tribute to each recipient with personalized and heartfelt acknowledgments.
The evening concluded with the announcement of several exceptional students who received scholarships. Charles Baker received a scholarship from the Bloomfield Township Police Department, and The Bloomfield Township Fire Department awarded scholarships to Brent Brooks, Brielle Brooks, Jordan Newman, and Keira Thav. Congratulations to all award recipients. Bloomfield Hills Schools is proud of you!
